The Weekly Assessment

Every Sunday, Citizen’s Daily Brief produces a Weekly Assessment — a longer-form analytical product that steps back from the day-to-day cycle.

What It Covers

The Weekly Assessment looks at the week’s briefs as a whole, identifying patterns and connections that aren’t visible in any single day’s brief:

How It Differs from the Daily Brief

The Daily Brief answers: what matters today and why? The Weekly Assessment answers: what did this week mean, and what should we be watching?

It runs 4,000–6,000 words — roughly a 15–20 minute read. It is a single, continuous document rather than a collection of discrete items. Think of it as the difference between a daily intelligence briefing and a weekly strategic assessment.

Schedule and Availability

The Weekly Assessment is published every Sunday and is available exclusively in the iOS app. A subscription supports the project and keeps the Daily Brief free for everyone.

Why It’s App-Only

The Daily Brief is free and always will be. The Weekly Assessment is how readers who find CDB valuable can support its continued operation. Your subscription funds the infrastructure, source access, and compute that make the Daily Brief possible.
